Sister Nelson - September 23, 2018

End of First Week at MTC Greetings from Provo MTC, We have finished our first full week at the MTC! What a week it has been--filled with SO much. I have sent texts to tell you of Monday evening and Tuesday evening happenings, so will try to start at Wednesday. Wednesday classes started at 8 am where we met with all of the senior missionaries and were taught how to make sure we had the Doctrine of Christ in our teachings. We then split up into our districts to plan a lesson for our "others". Our "others" were a couple assigned to us to get to know. From our conversations we were to come up with something that they could use help on and teach a lesson that would help. This was really hard for Dad and me because these people were wonderful people who had great faith in the Lord and lived accordingly. They had shared that they were going to Mexico to work in the office. The wife had gone to Guatemala on a mission and Spoke Spanish, but had no computer experience. The hu...

Report of day 2–We met our teachers today both morning and afternoon teachers. Above is a picture of Dad after lunch pondering the things we learned in the morning class. He did remarkably well considering he woke up at 3 am thinking about WES. Our afternoon classes were even better than the morning classes. They seemed to be a little more experienced. Our devotional tonight was a wonderful experience. Elder Neil L. Anderson was our speaker and it was on temples. His wife also spoke and she did really too. I think, however, that my favorite part was the choir singing. They had the deaf choir sing along with the regular choir. The congregation got to sing the prelude and that, too, was wonderful to be something so big and powerful. Then for the opening song we all got to sing Called to Serve. Wow! Music is powerful. Great fireside. Before the fireside our branch president came up to us and asked us to meet him afterwards. Now what were we getting in trouble for? When he t...

Just a report on the first day. We still have dinner and the to do which will end at 7:15. We got checked in without too much trouble and no more shots were required. We had two orientation sessions that were quite good, then went to lunch—way too many choices but we did get BYU creamery chocolate milk. We went to a meeting after lunch where we were assigned our districts. Dad was assigned as district leader for our district with three other couples in our district. It looks like Dad will be talking in church on Sunday and I’ll be leading the music. The last meeting of the day was a meeting where we meet the MTC Mission Presidency. It was phenomenal!!! They talked about all of the blessings the Lord has promised not only for us but our families into the fourth generation. I can’t express how wonderful that meeting was. The mission president shared the story of a petite young sister from China who had been called to Korea. Five weeks into her MTC training the Brethren called t...

Elder Nelson - Sept 17, 2018

Dear Family, It has been five weeks since I last posted. I will try to do better now. The last 5 weeks has been hectic, fun and very stressful. Things at work are hectic and crazy. Packing up a house in our spare time is hectic and crazy. Thankfully you all helped out and made the moving process much, much easier. Thank you all so very much. Thanks for spending several days with us – super fun!!! Lance said we should go on missions more often, because it is so fun spending time with his siblings. Things have gotten better at WES. We have new orders and our customers are waking up again. Carlos is running the shop. Today in the afternoon at the MTC, I spent about 45 minutes on the phone and with emails. I hope I don’t get too distracted. Brynn, Kate, Anna and McKay had birthdays this week. Wednesday Lance came over for lunch and saw we were in big trouble getting everything packed. So he came over again in the evening and helped us for a couple of hours. After work Thursday we went to L...
