Dear Family,
Mission News
District Conference in Centreville on Tuesday: I enjoy being with the missionaries.
Zone Conference on Wednesday:
We listened to an inspiring presentation given by Elder and Sister Holland on Book of Mormon at the Mission President Training at the MTC. They talked about how important the Book of Mormon is to the restoration. I love the doctrines taught in the Book of Mormon. It compliments the Bible so well and clarifies the saving doctrines.
At Zone Conference Mom and I participated in the car inspections for an hour and a half. It was cold outside, so Mom was on the outside of the car checking the blinkers, lights etc. I was on the inside. She was happy to be outside and I was happy to be inside.
Last transfer we needed a 12-passenger van. I had difficulty getting one when we needed. We will need a van for this transfer and I got it ready for the March transfer. Simple joy in life.
Yesterday we went to a baptism in the Mount Vernon Stake. It was in Spanish. Even though Mom and I could only catch a word or two, we felt the Spirit. A couple were baptized by their 20-year-old son, who was baptized last month.
I am responsible for the mobile devices in the mission. Up until recently all of the mobile phones were owned by the mission. However, now the missionaries bring their own mobile phones. The current practice is to leave the church-owned phone in the teaching area. This phone has access to the area book data – all of the contacts and their status, but also all of the phone numbers and text messages. With the new missionaries having their own phones, when they transfer they will take all of this data with them. We are working on a plan that will minimize or eliminate the data loss.
We have a lot of phone problems. They get old, they get dropped or soaked with rain or snow and sometimes the forget how to work. The missionaries call me for help. Unfortunately, I am not a cell phone guru. Most missionaries are a lot more tech savvy than I am. Also, the phones are Samsung and are different from my iPhone. Needless to say, I make a lot of calls to Mission Tech Support. I think I will get the hang of it – eventually.
Fun Stuff
It was too cold for fun this week. It was minus 4 degrees with wind chill on Thursday morning.
It snowed a bit and they really put the salt on the roads down here. Our car looked more white than grey, so we decided to get it washed. Evidently everybody else had the same idea. Most cars we saw were washed by a couple of days after the snow to keep the salt from rusting away the car especially under the car.
WES News
January was better than expected for profit. February looks strong, but March looks like a big loss. There is some hope the April might be break even.
We have no resolution to the software dispute.
One of our customers is losing money and they may go out of business. They owe us $75,000.
Family News
The happy news this week is that Brynn was able to go to the temple for the first time to do baptisms.
Love,
